I have been using simple in-ear headphones for several years when I was on the computer. I want to upgrade because I know I am missing a lot sound wise in games.
My question is the Sound Card on the Asus P8Z77--V LX good enough to run surround sound. The headphones I am going to get are the SteelSeries Siberia V2 Frost blue headphones. I need to know if I can run the non-USB version of the headphones with the motherboard that I have. I would rather get the Non-USB but if they aren't good then I will get USB.
Also if anyone knows, is there any way I can use the USB with an Iphone?

That on-board sound is very capable of what you are wanting to do:

RealtekĀ® ALC887 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC *4
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking

Non-USB is best.
