Loss of Memory?

I have an Nvidia 9600 GSO card with 1 gig of on board RAM. I just noticed by accident during a boot sequence that the RAM number has changed from 1024 to 768. Is it possible that I have "lost" one ram chip? Or has it died quietly and left its brothers alone?

i had an old ati x550 that reported 32mb instead of 256mb, so yes its entirely possible. You will probably notice your system will become unstable if that is the case also.
