I need to replace the hyper 212 evo fan with something quieter. These are what I am looking at.

Silence and performance is my priority. My cpu, i5 2500k is OCed to 4.0 Ghz. I was thinking the cougar fan is a bit weird to the hyper 212 evo heatsink because the brackets might not go on correctly on the fan to be put on the heatsink. Can anyone confirm this for me? Which of those fans should I get?

I think the brackets should go on correctly on the cougar 120mm, but I am not sure. Here are pictures of the hyper 212 evo.

ive heard good things about the noctura fan
the noctura fan is about 20DBM(max), and provides 55CFM (higher is better if you dont know :) )
and the Cougar fans are 18DBM, and provide 70.5CFM

and the cougar fans are cheaper, so there probaly the better choice in this case

definitely check out the Cougar vortex 12v-cf 120mm, super quiet and tons of air. Kind of expensive though, hot sure what you're budget is. I paid $17 a piece for mine, not too bad but compared to most fans with the exception of Noctua they are more money than most. Well worth it though.

Don't worry about the money. Comparing these 2, which one is quieter? I need something with less than 23-24 dBA. Thanks for the replies. Well if there is like 1 dBA of a difference, I will go with the one with better performance, but silence is still a huge priority because this pc is in my room where I sleep. The sound of moving air and the bearing all adds to total noise. May I know which heatsink/radiator you used the cougar with? If you did put it on the cpu cooler.

just put some of these in my new storm trooper build

very impressed with them

very quiet, and are meant to be really good for heatsinks and radiators as they focus the air-can feel the air

on my hand at least 3 feet away

also if you are into led fans they come in 4 or 5 colours and the leds give a great spread of light on the whole

of the fan blades as the leds are in the fan hub and not the frame

heres the leds though not very good quality photo from my phone

the 2 on the left are the silverstone fans and the 1 on the right the stock coolermaster fan
