Sapphire HD 6950 UPC 840777051450 Is it a reference card?

Hi. I found this card in a store, but the box is sealed. i can't see what is inside. I have another Sapphire HD 6950 with the same model number, 100312SR, it is a reference design BUT has a different UPC number

This is a question toward who have a Sapphire HD 6950.

Sapphire's customer support didn't help.

If i'm asking in the wrong place, where should I ask? thanks.

I think going by the model number that you are talking about the same card.

well, according to jds' post, multiple parts carry the same model#, but have have different SKU# and P/N#.

When I was looking at this card, i didn't see an SKU or a Part Number. All I saw was a serial number and a UPC. And the only thing I was allowed to take down was the UPC.

When I searched retailer websites, it showed me that this UPC is model 100312SR that is the reference model. Only one of those retailers have reviews for the item, here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7073913&CatId=2306. people there say that it is unlockable. So, I decided to take a gamble and buy it tomorrow.

OK, answering my own question for anyone interested in the near future.

The Sapphire HD 6950 with the UPC 840777051450 in fact IS a reference card and has the Dual BIOS switch.

This card is normally sold through retail channels like Best Buy, Microcenter and other such electronic stores. It carries a unique UPC to distinguish it from those models carried by e tailors like newegg, tigerdirect, mwave, superbiiz, etc.
