Hi girls and boys,
Just a silly problem here (I hope....). I just tried out a Nikon D1x. The
camera was setup with a 24-70mm lens (not a 'D' or 'G' type). Every shot was
okay and the camera gave a preview. Changing the lens to a 'D' type: the 20
mm f/2.8 and the 80-200 F/2.8 ED every shot taken in P mode resulted in a
black (underexposed?) preview. Switching to A (aperture priority) mode it
managed to make a few shots exposed okay but on S (shutter priority) or P
nothing came up on the lcd.

Does anybody have a clue to what this could be caused by?? I looked through
most of the custom menu's and reset both the custom menu's and the general
settings back to factory settings..

Regards,
Drew

Other than "it's broke", the only thing I can think of is that the
Nikon cameras need you to lock the lens at the minimum aperture
(largest number) when using them in shutter priority or program mode.
However, my experience is that, if you don't do that, the camera
refuses to shoot and displays an error indication, rather than doing
what you describe. But I haven't used a D1x, I'm generalizing from
other Nikon bodies.

Let us know when you get this figured out!

Sigma 24-70 /2.8 I had does incorporate D chip in it for the body to do 3D
Matrix Metering

You can't see much from the preview .. load it into a computer screen and
you'll know.
mind dumping the EXIF value here?

Had the camera checked out yesterday bij the Nikon importer: something to do
with the 3D matrix metering is broken,...needs to be repaired (approx.
$300).

Thanks guys
