Since you want to have overkill parts then i see nothing wrong here. Just a waste of money.

Yeah, thanks Emelth. :)  It's just a title though. You give good advice even if you aren't one.

OK gentlemen, if you were buildng and still wanted performance, where would you cut? Less motherboard, processor and power supply? Please feel free to make recommendations, I have not ordered all the parts et and can still make changes.

I went with the 240gb SSD vs. the 128 gb, hould I ut that back with the possibility of going with Raid 0 down the road or stay with 240 gb?

I went ith the big power supply for future proofing and build quality. What do you guys think? Input is appreciated.

I thought you wanted to OVERKILL everything?

I would cut down on everything since everything is overkill.

Get an i5-2500k
Asrock z68 Extreme4 Gen3
GTX 570
Corsair 850w
HAF 922
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 500gb
Op drive - Any.
G.skill 8gb.

I don't know why but it seemed like you just wanted the attention and never intended to buy those parts you originally listed.

HMMM...Intersting comment to make. I assume for those of you that are on the forums as much as you guys are that you have a fair amount of people that probably do those types of things. Rest assured that I am a grown man and have better things to do with my time than to waste both yours and mine.

Parts I currently in my possession are the following:

Coolermaster Storm Sniper but decided to change to a Silverstone Ft02 based on a conversation with Twoboxer...I will keep it and use it to build a coputer for the kids.

Coolermaster 850w Bronze power supply. Again based on comments, I decided to look at a power supply that may be more reliable, but I got a great deal on it and will use it for the kid computer.

16gb of Corsair Vengance memory, will use for kids computer...

2X Sapphire Toxic 6950...I picked these up about a month ago when they were in stock...

Hitachi Diskstar 1TB

Last night I ordered the new case....the SSD...the CPU and the Motherboard through Amazon...no tax and I am a Prime member, so no shipping either.

I realize this IS STILL OVERKILL, but I could have went with Sandybridge E and dual 580 GTX's too, but I am trying to be reasonable, even though I still really want to go that route deep down :D

I was looking at the Asrock boards, but they seem as though they have a lot of issues and poor tech support...Although I could o with less board for sure, will have to think on that one. I can always send back if I change my mind.

I know I don't need the 1000 w power supply, but it just seems to me that everyone says that is the one place not to skimp on...This would allow me to use this for multiple builds and years to come, same as the case. It seems worth the extra $100.00 or so...

The one component I still have not decided on is the CPU cooler, any recommendations, I am afraid I will order something that will not fit. I thought about a Frio, but no external fan control and too loud on higher settings. I am concerne about clearance.

Thanks...

all my previous suggestions will include a huge tower case with full size atx board... didn't realize that sometimes... some ppl may never use that much space... as time moves forward... there is more and more small cases that provides good cooling and build quality as well... also more micro-atx board that overclock nearly as good as standard sized atx ones if not better... proving that good things does come in small packages...
