i will be playing games at a resolution of 3840x1024 in eyefinity, do i need 2gb of VRAM, or should 1gb cut it? i don't really want to spend the extra money on 2gb unless i really need to, plus they are hard to get a hold of in NZ, thanks

Yes at that resolution you will need more than 1GB of vram. Up to 1920 x 1080 1 GB is enough, but when you go over you need more.

I know this has been answered but just to back it up; I run eyefinity 5760x1080 on 6950's and I can reassure you, you're going to want the 2GB cards. VRAM usuage is usually over 1GB in most everything I play according to GPU-Z.
