Terrible download speeds after reformat

I just reformatted my old laptop to get Vista 64 off and put Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on. Now, however my laptop is getting CRIPPLINGLY slow download rates, before reformat I was getting 1.5-2mbs (nothing amazing) but now I'm only getting 100-150kbs. I updated my wireless driver for Windows 7 so I'm stumped.

Gateway M-6864 FX (old aging laptop).

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, but I could really use some help.

  1. Test your speed at http://www.speedtest.net and click to copy the Forum Link then paste it back here, please. Mixing DSL speeds in Mb and transfer rate in kb(p)s is confusing - the site you were downloading from might be restricted in its uploading capabilities. The Speedtest site results will show in Mb what you're actually getting.
