Changing Appearance

i tried changing the appearance on the display properties, appearance tab
then 'advanced' and changed the colour of a few bits and the fonts but when i
click ok to go back to display properties then ok or apply it doesnt change
any colours other than the text! it jus stays on the standard blue! help!!!
