What is the advantage of hyper threading in a microprocessor? Also what is the percentage of speed increase?

Your threads title is a bit misleading. Hyper Transport is AMDs IMC. Hyper Threading is something where a single CPU core can process two threads at the same time.

If the program is optimized for it, it can increase performance usually 20%, but not always.
