Computer turns on, off, then back on. No video.

Hello, I'd first like to say that if this is the wrong section, then I apologize.

Recently I built my first computer. After plugging everything in and verified it working, I used my computer for approximately 12 hours. After about twelve hours, the computer randomly shut itself off for no apparent reason.

Upon trying to turn it back on, it would turn on for about 2-3 seconds, then turn back off, then back on. This time it would stay on, but there is no video display. I've opened the case and felt the heatsink and the area around it, and it's not running hot at all.

I'm not sure what could cause the computer to suddenly malfunction after twelve hours of operating perfectly. If anyonecould help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
