More about dollar build years
  1. From what I can tell most 460 GTX require 450W power supply. 350W might cause problems.
  2. I have just updated, I will be trying out the 6870HD with a 580W PSU. Does that sound any better"?

  3. ok let's go from the top
good CPU for the money .. also you will not be able to oc it ( you can also get i3-2100 which is still pretty good CPU - goes for $100 at microcenter)
no need for aftermarket cooler as u will not oc your CPU
get a better brand motherboard - ASUS, Gigabyte
that memory is 1.65v u need 1.5v .. Gskill, Corsair
HDD is fine .. but not the best .. if u can find WD Caviar Black or Samsung F3 go for it
for the case I would recommend going with Antec 300 or NZXT Gamma for your budget
Definitely change PSU ... brands like Corsair, PC power and cooling, Antec ..etc
    optical drive is whatever
  4. Okay I took into consideration what you said and made cnanges in the below liink

With the i3 will I still be able to play new games witnout an issue? How about some bottleneck issues?

  5. if u decide to go with i3 2100, i would recommend amd phenom ii x4 955 because its performance are basically the same at the same price range, and it has a potential to overclock.
  6. Phenom II x 4 $125

    Gigabyte 880 AM3+ Motherboard $83 (USB 3.0)

    PowerColor 6870 $160

    Cosair CX500 $51

    G.skill Sniper Ram 8gb $43

NZXT Source Elite 210 $50 ( Great case with 3.0 usb on the front)

    Seagate Barracuda 500gb $85

This is a great build lol.

USB 3.0 transfers data 10x faster than usb 2.0.

You only need a CD burner which is $20 and a good 1920 x 1080p monitor which is less than $150. :) good luck.
  7. i3-2100 will beat phenom at any time .. look at the recommendations from Tom
AMD boards are technically dead and have no pass to upgrade .. AMD will stop making new desktop processors next year.
and don't listen to a hippie dog :)
  8. He doesn't need upgradability anyway. He needs more cores since he upgrades his computer by more than 5years. He will need more cores since games by that time might be using more than 2 cores. lol :D
  9. How about upgrading your i3-2100 after a year or so to new ivi bridge 4 or more cores CPU? Because I would recommend an i3-2100 over 955 be.
AMD boards are not dead, and does have a pass to upgrade, but by now the intel is better move.
  10. I havent yet decided but i id have to put on hold cause the wife spent my entire christmas bonus in one day.... sigh 1500 dollars, i only wanted 600 of it... but alas the perks of being married i guess.
  11. holy crap. What did she buy with the 1500 dollars if you don't mind me asking?
  12. To be honest no idea. She over drafted our bank account and all the fees piled up. So looks like its no chance untill tax season. We looking for anything special doming first of the year
  13. was able to lower the price... bf worthy? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Wea
