*Notice: Please for once I don't want any 100% references to a "gaming computer", I have asked questions like this before and I always get "gaming frame rate would be..." Types of answers. If you post would you please regard this as a video rendering Rig 1st THEN any insight on gamin framerate, cons/pros, etc. is gladly welcome/encouraged: Thank you!*

So anytime I ask about the i7-2600(or 2700)k processor I always hear great things and I think i'm going to get one of them. However, I hear great things in terms of Framerate and gaming stuff. My GPU is a 7970 BTW so I know it can run any game on ultra w/ enhancements mods just fine with an i7-2600k. But never on the Video Rendering side.

How does it preform for rendering Hd videos?
Would it be good for say a 5 minute 1080p Hd video on After Effects? or take like 2 hours?
How much better would it be if I had a 3930k? since it's six cores instead of 4?

Also how much Ram should I get for video rendering? I was planning on getting 8 but I hear people needing 16 or more? The 8 is the DDR-1866 or whatever not 1600, or 1366 whatever.

Please help, I'm trying to work around my $2050 budget including monitor, case, and everything and just balance everything accordingly.

Wait... what? I know the AMD 7970 destroys the GTX580 graphics cards, especially since I wont be running Crossfire or SLI. Isn't the 580 a Graphics Card and the i7-2600k a CPU? I'm so confused by your post. "5-20x faster ->>than an<-- i7-2600k? Wait, you meant to say "in an"???? :??:

I would but I don't have AE on this laptop, I got to build my new computer before I install it. Could anybody else check it for me or is there a link to see if they support it.
