Power Supply Help !!!!

I'm new to building computers and need help.

Whats a great power supply brand and what wattage will i need for this system?

500 watt of good psu like seasonic/superflower/corsair will do...

Are you sure because the calculator on new egg said that i needed 750 watts?

Also.... I'm building this computer for Maya 2012. Should i get a smaller graphics card and a i7 instead?

Yes, 500watt is enough unless you use multi graphic cards, harddrives, and bling-bling lamps.

A p67 on a locked processor is a waste of money.

You only need 500w.

With 8GB ram you should run Maya 2012 smoothly, with this rig, however, as cutebeans pointed out, get an H67 mobo, since you are not willing to overclok the cpu.

Thanks guys...... but what about the processor and graphics card? Should i get a smaller graphics card and spend the money on an i7 instead? I'll be running Maya, After Effects, Photoshop.......

If you really want to. i7-2600 then get a 6870.

Yeah, processor power is always more important.

A buddy of mine has offered me his rig for 700 bucks.... here is the specs

* first generation of i7
* Nvidia Geforce GTX 260
* 6gb of ram
* 1TB of HDD
* 2 LCD monitor 18''


should i even consider this rig or can i something better for what i need, 650 bucks is what i can spend.
