In 2000 I had a pc built by Alienware and I wont buy a Dell.
My Area 51 with the p4 became out dated a few years back along with the 9550 ati card so it's time to upgrade and i'm lost.

What i'm thinking about going with is a ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS , AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor and 2 XFX HD695XZDDC Radeon HD 6950 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity . The primary use of the computer is gaming and watching tv at the same time I will use 50" Vizo hdmi tv for viewing and maybe 2 23"hdmi..

I do not know anything about benchmarks and it will be sometime in Feb 2012 before I have all the money to bring the old full tower Alienware/Chieftec case to life again.

My kids have had several Intel/Nvidia based computers quit working so I want to stay away from them.
I have had several Nvidia cards quit working which sucks on a laptops.

The big chain stores have started to sell 4 and 6 core processors computers before and after blackfriday for more money than I can build one for.
I want to build for the future and not have to do it again for atleast 6 years .

Alot of reviews say that fx-8150 sucks and some say it sucks because nothing is ready for a 8 core processor.
All I want to do is maybe download porn, watch tv, skype, facebook, vent, surf internet and play BF3 or wow or rift all at the same time.
I want something for the long run that not going to be out of date in a year or so .
Am I going the right way with what i'm thinking about building? or should I wait and build later. any suggestion?

Years ago Intel did have an issue but it has been fixed for a long time and still remains the best. I would highly suggest along with other people on the board to go with intel for the money you are putting into your computer.

You will get more out of it and the best "bang for your buck"

For WoW yes an AMD would do good both if you go with i5 2500k you will be getting around 100+ FPS, FX-8150 was only getting around 80 FPS

BF3 the review that TH had about a month ago showed that the FX could keep up with the rest of the intel CPUs

Rift I dont know anything about cause I dont play it so hoepfully someone else can fill this spot out for me

But besides that if you want to stick with the AMD build go ahead it looks alright from this side

CPU: FX-8150
MoBo: Sabertooth AM3+
GPUs: 2 x 6950s
RAM: go with 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600mhz low profile (meaning no heatspreaders)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda or Samsung Spinpoint F3
Any optical drive that you wish for $20 or a BR player
PSU: go with a 750W Antec, Corsair, XFX, OCZ brands
CPU cooler: Hyper 212 Evo (that is if you plan to OC the FX)
