Gateway PC Put in new case

I would love to build a computer but don't have the money yet. But I was wondering if I could just put my Gateway GM5472 in a new case. Not sure if the motherboard/power supply it has will fit in a ATX Mid Or full tower, that's my question? Then when I'm ready to build a computer I will have the case I want at least.

Edit: I looked up the motherboard model, Elitegroup MCP61PM-AM

Thanks, :)

More about gateway case
  1. You would not be able to power it on, front panel connectors are different.
  2. Yes, you can certainly transplant your Gateway guts to a standard case. Not a big deal at all, except it will still be a Gateway in sheep's clothing (sorry, just had to do that).

    Good luck!
  3. Specification :Gateway GM5472

The MCP61PM-AM is a pretty generic motherboard and has a standard FP header. Shouldn't be an issue at all to move this mobo to a standard case with standard FP connectors.

Well we should have the OP verify before he buys.

...or look up the mobo and look at it via the 'Net (just messin' with you). However, it is about as generic as they get.
  7. Thanks for the reply's, not sure about the standard FP header. The power and usb are at the top. This is the case I want to get, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129093

I have already upgraded the graphics cards and added more ram.

Then when I can save up to get new motherboard and everything else.I do have a degree in computers but not really hardware. I really thinking about going back for computer repair. I just know the basics.

For about a 4 year old computer it can run the Sims3 pretty good.

    Thank You,
  8. This case has the power supply mounted on the bottom will that matter?
  9. The original Power supply cable may not be long enough.. you better double check.
  10. I think I might just go with this one, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144250
