i5-2500k

AZRock z68 ex3

560ti or hd7870

samsung 830 ssd 128gb

a 1tb hdd (be switching with ODD time to time)

8gb ram (4gb x 2)

i dont know if i should just get 600w or 500w or 550w...

(does bronze silver gold class really matter? i heard it saves you money but.. opinion?)

what's your budget for PSU's and where can you shop, i'm not sure about that PSU, but there are bound to be better ones.
As to does it matter, not really no, BUT if they can't be bothered to hit the bottom standard, what else can't be bothered to do.

this is the only vague review I could find. http://xtreme-hardware.com/content.php?146-SUPER-FLOWER-GOLDEN-GREEN-550W-80-GOLD-Harga-Kelas-Teri-Performa-Kelas-Kakap/view/7&s=0ef798a41369a28e2e5e959bc08687aa
note that the 12V rail starts to dip after a short period of time at load, it should be consistent, and it isn't.

correction, thats one of the other SuperFlower PSU's, but i'd still get something else

Correction #2 http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story5&reid=229 seems to think that some of theirs are good, so they can make good psu's.

The SF-500P14XE with its 41A on the 12V rail and (1) 6-pin and (1) 6+2-pin power connectors is sufficient to power your rig.

Understood...I simply wanted to answer the specific question that was asked. I wasn't necessarily contradicting your questioning line of thought on quality, however SF does make some high quality PSUs, especially their Gold certified ones.

I thought SF was a quality psu brand... i live in RoK and thats what people tell me but i'm not so sure which psu brand is good.

The SF-500P14XE with 41A on the 12V rail is sufficient for your build. Superflower is a good PSU maker and their Gold certified PSUs like the SF-500P14XE are top notch. I think you've made an excellent PSU choice for your PC - Enjoy!

SuperFlower is making good PSUs.

Also just for your information. The BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD, PLATINUM tag stands for the efficiency of your PSU. For example BRONZE has 80%+ efficiency, that means the PSU can provide (at least) 80% of the power without power loss.
The less power loss the more you save money over time, but this also means you can sometimes get away with a good quality high, efficiency PSU, with lower maximum wattage, when a low efficiency one wouldn't suffice and needed higher overall wattage to deliver the same power.

D'OH! hard to explain in english, hope it's somewhat understandable. :D

No no no, it means that at any load the lost power will never be more than 20%. Which is very different from providing 80% of the power with no loss. although this might be a language issue.

Sorry to be picky but they are two very very different concepts.

maybe 300W peak, worst case, my Q9550 and a GTX470 (both more power hungry) only peak at about 300W when gaming. so maybe you are mid 200's.

so if it needs 200W to work, and your psu is 80% efficieint then you'll be pulling 250W from the wall.

GTX 560ti is rated at 170W
i5 2500K is rated at 95W
Each HDD or Optical drive is ~25W
830 SSD is about 12W
Rest of the system will be somewhere around 50-100W.
So...at 100% load your power consumption might reach somewhere around 350-400W. I think you'll find that actual power consumption even at full load will be lower. If you want to figure it out exactly, then you can get a Kill-a-Watt meter to measure power from the wall. http://www.amazon.com/P3-International-P4400-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1330961393&sr=1-1

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant to explain. My "at least" statement was just referring to the fact that it needs to provide the 80% efficiency at any load. Not just at full load. In reality some PSUs struggle to provide 80% at higher loads and surpass the 80% easily at lower load. :)

Even though they test at an unrealistically low 23C, I believe some level of 80+ certification has merit because the PSU was run up to 100% of its label for at least half an hour. That may not seem like much, but chokemax brands like Logisys, Diablotek, and Apevia will choke, smoke, and croak well before they reach that point.
