Whose recommendation to follow..brand or chipset ?

Hi guys ,
AS the question goes....whose recommendation to follow regarding a hardware update....brand (hp/dell/...) or chipset(amd/intel/...)

I have a old PC from Hp Pavillion a1510y which hp says to support 2 gb ddr2 667 (operative at 533) at max.....but on the other hand it has the radeon 200 chipset which says that it can support upto 4 gb...............

so..........any opinions ?

I would go with a Z77 motherboard, ASUS or Gigabyte and a processor that would fit the budget and the needs. Probably new RAMs, graphics card, power supply would be needed too.

No, I think you are asking for a update. Its VERY OLD and my first PC....just asking whether can add 4 gb there though hp recommends 2 ?

The system will likely support 4GB just fine. Performance on this older system will likely not improve very much, however. alexoiu is really telling you it is time for an upgrade based on theage and capability of the technology.

Also, the price of DDR2 memory is much higher than the price of DDR3 memory.
