Hey Guys,

Relatively new to building custom PC's and modding them.

Had a 700W Xigmatek PSU running my system with 2600k's, 16gb 1600 and an MSI 580. This all ran great for 4 months until one day I shorted the system out with a faulty USB device.

I had also planned to get a 1000W PSU to run two 580's on, so I sent the old PSU for repair and wired in 1000w Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular. This worked great for a few days doing everything from Solidworks Simulations to running BF3.

Yesterday it would not switch on. I changed the kettle plug from my PSU one to one from my monitor and then it made a loud bang and a flash. The PSU was not set to the ON position.

I have no idea what is going on but if anyone could help me out with what to do next it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes both failed on the same wall socket on the same extension,

but the 2 other screens on the same extension on the same wall socket have been fine the whole time. Plugged in a few other things and they also seem to run fine.

Thanks

5amp kettle lead on monitor

need a 13amp for the PSU

though techincally it'll be hard to pull 5amps on the psu its doable....
