Hi guys, this is my first time here and I'm about to put together my first PC.

As I am new to this sort of thing I was hoping for some advise as to whether the parts I have chosen are compatible or if there are better alternatives. I am extremely open to an suggestions, as this is just o rough draft.

The computer would be primarily used for playing current games at 1920x1080.

Any suggestions on how to save some money would be greatly appreciated and the max I would like to spend would be $850.

Here's what I have in mind so far:

CPU: i5 2500k

Mother board: MSI P67A-GD55 (B3)

RAM: G.Skill 8GB Dual Channel Memory Kit - DDR3-1333 / PC3-10600 - CAS Latency 9-9-9-24 - 240pin - Unbuffered - Non-Ecc (F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT)

Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6950 OverClock Video Card

Case: Antec Three Hundred

I don't really know what PSU I would need, and I would like any advice whether I would need a 6950 or a 6870.

Also I live in Australia, so most of my parts would probably be brought from www.mwave.com.au/

Thank you for any assistance

I would go with a motherboard that has a Z68 chipset like this one it has an option to add a SSD along side your standard HDD to be used for caching your frequently used data which allows faster access

And if you plan on overclocking, obviously you are since you got the 2500k unlocked processor I would get an aftermarket cooler like this one because the heat-sink Intel provides is junk.

And some thermal compound

And for the RAM i would go with something more like this its a little faster.

And for a power supply I would suggest this one if you are not planning to add another video card in the future

http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-34040736-Corsair_TX_650_V2_650W_Enthusiast_Series_Power_Supply_ATX12V_v2_31_&_EPS12V_

This one if you plan on adding another video card in the future

http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-34040737-Corsair_TX_750_V2_750W_Enthusiast_Series_Power_Supply_ATX12V_v2_31_&_EPS12V_

And for a HDD

http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-22040439-Seagate_Barracuda_ST31000524AS_1TB_7200_RPM_32MB_Cache_SATA_6_0Gb_s_3_5%22_In

And at that budget I'm pretty sure a SSD is out of range but I'll recommend one anyway to be used in tandom with the HDD for caching.

http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-22140469-Kingston_SSD_V100_64GB_2_5%22_SATA_Solid_State_Drive_Read_250MB_s_&_Write

And as for the video card i would stay with the 6950 and if you can maybe bump it up to the 6970 if its at all possible that's really where your going to see the difference in gaming.
