Upgradability

Hello, I'm thinking of buying a Latitude 5520 with an I3 processor off the Dell Outlet site. I mainly want this machine as I believe it will be easy to upgrade. It has an Intel HM65 chipset. Will I be able to upgrade the CPU to an I7 at a later date or is it not as simple as this?

If the i7 CPUs are available as an option in that series you should have no problems upgrading to one at a later date.

Thanks. They are available. I probably asked the question incorrectly. Does the chipset (HM65) dictate whether or not I could upgrade to an I7 Quad or only an I7 Dual core processor? The dell website will allow you to configure I3,I5,I7, but the I7 it shows is Dual core. Is this just an option they have decided on for sales purposes or a technical barrier with HM65. E.g. It only handles Dual Cores?

If it's a technical barrier it would reside in the Dell BIOS and not the HM65 chipset itself.
I have a hunch a quad i7 would work in the 5520 and that Dell just make a marketing decision to drive the quad core seeking buyers to a different model.
But it's best to confirm that before you take the leap.
