What is the point of a second hard disk?

Hello, I'm building my own pc and I've noticed a lot of other pc's have a second hard disk, what is the point of having a second one and should I acquire one for my budget pc? Thanks.

Not sure you're in the right forum for that question, but 2 common uses for extra hard drives:
1. when the primary drive is a small SSD for the OS and maybe a few high-performance games, the second drive is for other things that require more space, but not as much performance.
2. setting up a RAID.
