Alright, so I've been using the same RAM sticks for a couple of years now and I want to upgrade. I've been looking at the Corsair Dominator Platinums so I'm kind of set on a 4GBx2 setup of them. My question is: what speed should I buy? Also, what timings/voltage should I get? I plan on overclocking a bit. Any info is appreciated!

:welcome:

what speed should I buy?
A: DDR3 - 1600MHz is the sweet spot (in terms of speed) if you are into gaming or less memory intensive stuffs or you could go with DDR3-1866 if you are into audio encoding, video rendering or stuffs which are memory intensive.

Also, what timings/voltage should I get?
B: If you are mixing the new memory with the memory already present then it would be better to match the timings and voltage of the existing memory. Else you could go with 1.5V or 1.35V (if your mobo supports, which I think it does) and CL9 or CL11 or perhaps lesser than these should do fine.

For overclocking purpose 1866MHz should suit you fine and I think 1.35V should be the ideal voltage (provided if it supports) and CL9 or lesser.

Cheers, mate!! :hihi:

first if you buy RAM check QVL Sabertooth Z77 in Asus,
if want bit overclock RAM get 1600 CL7 1.5v .. i had i5 2500K familly your CPU use 1333 9-9-9-24 (1.5v) RAM working at 1866 9-9-9-24 with little raisevdim 1.52v .. and this is not fast speed but example overclocking
