CL4 vs CL6 for gaming (worth it?)

Hi,

I want to upgrade my ram from 4 to 8gb. I'm looking at a CL6 set for about $90, or a CL4 set for $140. This upgrade is primarily for games. Will I notice any real difference for games between the two?

CL4 (4-4-4-12)

This is my current ram. My second question is, should I just buy one set of 4gb, and see if it works with my current ram before I purchase more?

More about gaming worth
  1. Some of my other specs (its an older computer)

    CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz

GFX Card - ATI Radeon HD 4850

    Motherboard - GA-EP35-DS3L

    Thanks!
  2. No difference if you don't plan to overclock.

    Don't mix voltages, don't mix timings/latency, don't mix frequency.
  3. Gaming dont need those speed. So dont worry about that.
  4. The motherboard supports "DDR2 (1200)/1066/800/667 memory". Does the 1066 vs 800 make a difference? Thank you so much for the help!
  5. In gaming, no difference. Maybe other cpu intensive games.
