It has been a long time since I have done a build so I am a bit out of the loop. Which one of these would be the best bang for the buck?
AMD FX 8120
MOBO: ASUS CROSSHAIR V 990FX
VS
INTEL I7 2600K SANDY BRIDGE
MOBO: ASUS MAXMIMUS EXTREME
ALL THE REMAINING COMPONENTS WILL BE THE SAME IN BOTH;
MEMORY:
G SKILL (2X 8BG) 1600
HARD DRIVE:
1 TB WD BLACK CAVIAR 7200
VID:
RADEON FXF DOUBLE D 6870 1 BG 256 BIT
PSU:
ANTEC HIGH VOLTAGE 750W
I know both are a bit of overkill for what I will use them for (games and multi tasking). But I also want to future proof the machine for a while as well with games programs advancing as they are. I also wonder is the 750w enough? Im hooking this up to 42' lcd 1080p tv and will be putting in a blue ray player so im also considering useing dual GPU in the future as well.

Please help

The 2600K would be more "future-proof" and overall better than the 8120, but the Intel 2500K is a better bang for the buck over the 2600K in my opinion.

2600k. Especially if you are pairing it up with the maximus 4 extreme z. Does your case even fit the mobo?

I love my fx 8120 for video rendering. If you are rendering videos get that. Otherwise go intel

^^ agree'd intel may win in the gaming part of cpus, but an fx 8150/8120 beats most i5s in rendering and compares to an i7 with less cost

meh gaming differences bar Starcraft 2, Skyrim(not as bad anymore), Crysis 2 and BL2 (why on earth anyone will play that game is beyond me, guess its why they are giving it away with GTX 660ti's also something nobody really wants) Apart from these titles the FPS is so marginal, factor in a 2600K is more expensive, that is a factor too.

Heck maybe you can work the finances around and play around with the build options: ie:

FX 4170/8120
Asrock Fatality 990FX/Gigabyte 990FXA UD7/Crosshair V Formula

obviously the later two are the most feature rich boards and more expensive, I say if you can get a crosshair but its not really needed other than epeen factor :p .

PSU: Corsair HX650 a solid option 7 year warranty gold efficiency good build quality and hybrid modular.

HD 7850, the budget graphics card that can do a lot more than its title suggests, it is simply the best ever budget card ever.

On intel side, maybe a i5 3570K on a mid level Z77 board, something like a Asrock Extreme 4, OC formula or MSI Mpower, Gigabyte Z77X UD5H.
