Last response: in Motherboards

Is there any possible way to test if a motherboard works without everything else plugged in? (except for power supply)

Because I do not want to get a defective part and realize it once I have plugged everything into my computer.

Best solution

a b V Motherboard
a b ) Power supply

you can connect everything to the motherboard without the case to test it first
edit: you have to have everything plugged in to see if the motherboard works meaning the cpu is in, ram is in, psu plugged in, video card, monitor to the video card...on how to start your motherboard without the front panel attached look into your mobo's manual for front panel header..there you will see power_sw + and power_sw - all you do it take a flat head screwdriver and touch those two pins to start it
