I'm trying to find what compatible CPU's that I can get for my computer. I have gotten the following information from Acer.

Motherboard: RS880P+SB810 PALMER FXN R (Part # MB.GAY09.001)
Chipset: AMD 880G
Processor: 2.80 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X4 820

The CPU you have is not a bad one. To upgrade you could probably go to a Phenom II 980 as a max. It won't offer a massive performance improvement.

The 820 isn't listed but the 810 is on the third from top tier on the AMD side. More detail the exact model number from the motherboard would be helpfull to confirm processor compatibility. You can often see it on the bios screen when the PC is first turned on.

Why do you want to upgrade?

I'm an avid gamer and would like to upgrade my computer to be able to get better FPS with better graphics. Here is what I have so far.

Processor: 2.80 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X4 820
Hard Drive: 640GB 7200 RPM
Graphic Card: ATI Radeon HD 6850 HD 1GB (Newly installed)
Power Supply: 600w (Newly installed)

Not sure what much else you need, but I can try to find the information if you tell me where I need to look.

I wouldn't normally make so many messages however for some reason I'm not allowed to edit my own messages. So, I'll insert my memory specs in here.

hmm googled your motherboard but nothing showed up. you should download the free SIW or cpuz and check the maker and model of your motherboard to find out compatible processors.

you probably want to stick with the 4 core cpus because most games dont fully utilize 6 cores. The best AMD gaming cpus are fx 4170, phenom ii x4 980 and 975.
