GPU affect on video editing

Last response: in CPUs

Was wondering whether it would be better to get a GPU and an i3 or use integrated graphics and an i5 for video editing, gaming doesn't come into this at all and my budget won't stretch to an i7.
I'm looking at all aspects of video editing as well, not just final rendering or whatever
Thanks in advance :)

Well, to be honest .. you need a pretty decent video card and a pretty decent processor.

But really it depends on how extreme you want to go. And some programs today such as the Adobe CS5 pack only use the GPU for rendering and editing, but before the CS5 pack they used the CPU.

For video editing, Nvidia is the way to go because they have a great feature called CUDA, and that feature helps your rendering process faster.

I would personally go for an i5 and a GTX 560 ti but if your on a strict budget, then go for the i3 & a GTX 560 ti.

Video card performance = Editing
Memory (RAM = Editing

Processor = Rendering

(In most programs like sony vegas)
