From: 4870 X2 to GTX460

Hello guys, needed your opinions on this topic.

Previously, I had ATI HD 4870 X2 in my system. And about 14-15 months ago, I upgraded to a GTX 460 1GB.

Did I make a mistake by doing this?
Because when I checked the benchmarks today, the 4870 X2 beats the GTX 460 in almost every game.

What are the advantages of a GTX 460, considering it a new one..!!

  1. lol.thats a major fail move. The only thing 460 has over your old card is dx 11 which it is slow to utilize so its non existent.the 4870X2 was nearly as powerful as a 5870 which is close to 460 SLI
  2. Damn, Thank GOD I didn't sell it, kept it for my older PC.
  3. the 4870x2 was an AWESOME card.

unfortunatly going to the 460 was a downgrade.

    not many advantages

    GTX460
    GPU:675
    Stream Processors: 336
    Freq: 1350
    1gb GDDR5
    Mem Freq: 900mhz
    256-bit

    4870x2
    GPU:750
    Stream Processors: 1600
    Freq: 1350
    2b GDDR5
    Mem Freq: 900mhz
    512bit
  4. You bought a GTX 460 1GB over a year ago and you're just now getting around to asking the question? That said, not really. A moderately overclocked GTX 460 1GB is almost as fast as that old dual chip, power sucking monstrosity. Check the power consumption - half as much.

    Definitely no "major fail" "lol".
  5. A friend of mine has a 4870 x 2 and i have a GTX 460, yes he is getting some more FPS but yes he is also getting a higher power bill and yes he has issues with new titles untill ati releases some new drivers. Abd yes, he dosnt have DX 11. The amd card its powerfull and has alot of graphic power but the lack of DX 11 and the problems that cause a dual gpu in new titles (i.e Rage) makes the investmen to a GTX 460 not very bad :) bit a GTX 470 @ that time (1 year ago) would have been a better choice.
