Hi there everyone :hello:

I have a question that needs a detailed answer and links would be nice. I am soon to buy my new GPU, but need to know what to get. I will be gaming on a 24" monitor at 1920x1080 and don't plan on going SLI with a 580 since I will only be playing on one monitor. Price isn't a concern.

I have narrowed my choice down to these two cards:

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 580 Super Overclock
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i... $589

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MSI GeForce GTX 580 Lightning Edition
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i... $629

Once again, price isn't a concern, I just want to know what card will give me the best performance, speed and overclocking capability.

Feel free to tell me your experience and comments on either card.

Thanks for everything, and I'm looking for a best answer.

MSI gets my vote purely for the 16 phase power design, I killed a GTX570 with too much voltage and two of the VRM's burst....

I was wondering, are you planning on buying from that site or is it just for an overview? Newegg has the same card priced for $100 cheaper.

My vote is for the MSI because it has superior cooling which will likely yield to a higher O.C. and less noise.

Here's some benchmarks regarding O.C.ing capabilites and temps. As well as fps.

Gigabyte

MSI

The Gigabyte review actually compares these exact cards but it doesn't go in depth about the MSI Twin Frozr's capabilites and O.C.ing potential. For that look at the MSI review.

Sadly NewEgg doesn't ship to Australia, or does it?

Thanks!

My vote also goes to the MSI Lightning,it's one of the best 580's out there.
It runs cooler and quieter than the gigabyte one.
And no,newegg doesn't ship to Australia

O I didn't realize you lived in Australia.
That sucks tho, paying an extra $100.
