Hello I'm wondering if I should get a new CPU and motherboard or a new GPU

The choices I could get in a tight budget is:

FX-4100 Processor 3.6GHz w/ 12MB Cache (CPU)
+
M5A87 w/ Dual DDR3 1333, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan, PCI-E (Motherboard)

Total of $235.16

Or
HISRadeon HD 6870 IceQ X Turbo 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDMI, Dual DisplayPort

Total: $240.38 Tax included for both items

Planning on getting it at Boxing Day 26th of December

My current CPU and GPU are:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GH

ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB

If you're looking for better gaming performance overall, getting the video card would be your best bet. If anything, you can always overclock that cpu (3.0-3.2ghz should be sufficient) and it'll keep the video card from getting bottlenecked.

I would agree with the GPU upgrade and CPU overclock before a CPU upgrade and would recommend an HD 6950 1GB, however for arguement sake... You can get in to an H61 motherboard with i3-2100 for less than the cost of the FX-4100 setup and it would game fine and give you room to upgrade to upgrade later. You will need to get some DDR3 memory with either the combo below or with the AMD FX system..
