Help. I am trying to find out how to disable certain
programs from running "in the background" after startup
which seems to be slowing my computers startup time down
dramatically. Some of these programs include:
RealJukebox, Quicktime, Microsofts Scroll Mouse etc. I
would like to remove the icons from the toolbar and only
access these programs when I want from the programs
menu. I can hide the inactive program icons and even
close them one-by-one, but isn't there a way to customize
it so they don't automatically run at startup? Any
sugestions would be appreciated. Also, if I am in error
and these programs are not affecting my startup time that
info would likewise be apprectiated. Thanks in advance.

There should be an option in each of the programs to
prevent them from loading at startup. Be aware that if you
disable mouse or keyboard software, you might also disable
special functions of those devices. Whether or not it will
contribute significantly to startup time is a matter of
experimenting.

Start>Run - type "msconfig" <no quotes>, then Enter
Go to Startup tab and UNCHECK anything you don't want.
Be careful about using the other tabs if you're not sure what you're doing.
