I plan to build a new computer for my parents for xmas. It's primary purpose will be to watch and stream movies (will hook the computer to their TV). I am trying to make a long lasting computer that will last 4+ years for them.

Approximate Purchase Date: Christmas

Budget Range: Around $600

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Streaming movies and general internet surfing

Parts Not Required: All hardware excluding mouse/keyboard/monitor

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I like newegg

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: N/A

Overclocking: Yes / No / Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Yes / No / Maybe

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200

Additional Comments: Here is a list of parts for what I think would be a good PC. If you have any suggestions for better performance for the price, or suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

Case: Apevia 500W MiniATX
Mother Board:Gigabyte Micro ATX mother board
CPU: i3 2100 sandy bridge
Graphic Card: EVGA 2GB card
Hard Drive: 2 TB seagate w/ 64mb cache (needs to be 2 TB)
Ram: 8GB 1866 ram
Optical Drive: Sony Dvd Drive

Total: $746.93

Obviously, this is more than I am really looking to spend. Any build below this price with similar specs would be great. I would really like it to be small and compact, I would like it to be useable for 4+ years, needs to have 2TB of space.

Let me know what yall think. Im looking forward to see what yall come up with!

You can get a PC to stream and surf the web for half that. All you need is a decent dual core and 512MB video card if you want to stream in HD. Now if you plan on gaming ever, I would look at paying $600+

the 2 TB drive is the killer right now, Hard drives have tripled in price due to damage Thai factories, and aren't expected to return to normal for at least a year

that said, I think you can get a build under $600:

I would say this computer will be used for some gaming. But Skyrim or BF3 on ultra high settings is unnecessary.
