Been years since I've decided to build another computer.

Here is what I got so far.

Still need a PS and wondering what you all would recommend..

I have a deal on a 6850 vid card for 100 bucks used.

Do you think I should go with a cheaper MOBO?

This will be just a gaming system

THANKS

Save yourself $40 and buy 1600MHz RAM. Find a full-sized ATX motherboard (there are a lot of great choices around $125-175 from ASRock, Gigabyte, etc.).

Go with a Seasonic 630W power supply or something. Don't skimp out.

Looks great! The last thing you may want (only if you plan to overclock, or just want lower temps/quieter CPU fan) is a CPU cooler.

I'd highly recommend either the Xigmatek Gaia or the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+, they're only around $25-35, but will keep your shiny new 2500k nice a chilly.

Thanks Jack.. Yes I do plan on OCing, maybe not right away.. But I was thinking about the CORSAIR CWCH60

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181015

But that might overkill as I only plan on going to 4.0-4.2

O will look into the coolmaster hyper 212

THANKS! I'm about ready to order.

just an FYI to everyone..

The 120gb SSD driver will be my ONLY HD for a little while..
this will be ok right? I don't want to have issues with it..
What do you all think?

ok cool.. last question before I order guys..

As for the Video card.. I have a friend that has an HD 5850..
He's going to sell it to me for 100 bucks.. But I don't want the video card to be the bottle neck of the system which I think it might be.. I'm willing to spend a little more.. maybe even up to 200 bucks if I have to.

Is the 5850 good enough still these days?

Figure 1920x1080 with Battlefield3 on ultra ?

Or what card should I splurge on?

THANKS

I have the ASRock ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3, and it's a FANTASTIC motherboard. I love everything about it, except that it doesn't have internal USB 3.0 headers--but that's a rare feature that is only found on more expensive boards. The Extreme3 Gen3 has a really nice BIOS that's easy to use and very customizable.

That $100 Radeon HD 5850 isn't going to be able to run BF3 on Ultra. I couldn't find any reliable prices online, but it looks like you might be getting a good deal on it, though. It'll be able to run most games on medium settings, I'd wager. You can also see Tom's latest December article on the Best Graphics Cards for the Money.

LOL what??

Everything I read says it will play on ultra at 1920x1080

Maybe not 75 FPS but still play just fine..

currently, I have 8800GTS and play BF3 on Med. now..

25-35FPS but still.. It plays it just fine.

Regardless, Every single person has an opinion... Sadly we can go back and forth on every little item.. But I appreciate all the help right now..

I was thinking about getting the 6870 VIDEO CARD, but just read that the 5850 is about on par with the 6870..

Whats the top 4 cards out right now?

Best card for the money?

Best card for 150 or so bucks?

thanks

Yes.. and thank you..

Still.. It seems like the 5850 is still better than most on your link for the money..

http://www.hwcompare.com/10020/radeon-hd-5850-vs-radeon-hd-6790/

I don't know why the higher number cannot just mean.. I don't know... BETTER? lol

Either way, for 100 bucks I can get the 5850 and it seems to be by far better than the 5770, which I know plays BF3 on ultra with no problems...
