Running Windows 7 how much ram does one need. What is the 'sweet spot'? Is it 4, 8, 16, 24 or 32 gigabytes?

At what point does one reach the point of diminishing returns. For example, is the move from 8 to 16 worth the $40 or should that money be spent elsewhere??

If you're just the type of person that surfs the web watches videos then 4gb of ram is perfect. If you're a gamer 8gb+ is highly recommended. You can run Windows 7 off of 4gb no problem.

As for your question 8gb to 16gb is worth the money trust me.

16 GB is a complete waste in almost any scenario.

Running Photoshop, Battlefield 3, AND 50 tabs in chrome all at once, I don't even have to worry about not having enough RAM with my 8GB.

The only time you'd want more is if you're doing heavy video editing, or rendering, in which case you'd want 32 GB.
