I currently have the ASUS p7p55d-e LX MOBO paired with 3x2gigs of ram.

I am looking to upgrade to 16gigs of RAM but I am wondering if this motherboard (though I know supports 16gigs total of RAM) would support 8gig DIMM's individually without any issues or having to mess with the BIOS at all....

If this is the case can someone recommend some really good memory 2x8gig's preferred?

-THanks.

From the manual, your MB can support up to 16GB, but not the 2X8GB RAM because there are 4 memory slots that means you only can buy the 4x4GB RAM.

If you put the 1x8GB RAM in, the MB may or may not boot, I don't know. Also you are better to use 2 or 4 memory modules, because dual-channel architecture requires a dual-channel-capable motherboard and two or more DDR, DDR2 SDRAM, or DDR3 SDRAM memory modules.

And you only need other 2GB to the total 8GB RAM for game and regular usage, more than 8GB is a waste, but only you use the pc for like heavy photo/video editing. As long as you can find the RAM--1600MHZ, Cas Latency 9, 1.5V or 1.65V (not the best choice), then you are OK.
