Hoping to buy today!
budget is : 400 - 450$ (only for the cpu, psu, mobo and RAM)

What I have:
CPU: duo 3.1
gtx 560ti
PSU: 500w
RAM: 2x 2gb 2x 1gb

What I might be getting:

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115073
MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121512
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152036

Question is if i should be do'n something different. I'm kinda worried about PSU I just wish i could keep my 500w. though i need about 6x peripherals for fans and what not and 4x sata just for 1x dvd and 1x hdd

Solution
Your cpu link is a motherboard and your motherboard is a low end motherboard. Which of those are you wanting to get? The z68 one is the better choice :p

what is your current psu? You don't need anymore than 500W assuming it's a decent brand name one.

I'm using my PC mainly for zbrush(digital sculpting), 3ds max/Maya (3d modeling) and photoshop with a bit o gaming on the side it that helps. I'm also not too big into OCing or id get a 2500k

eeek ya I'd change that psu. I hate psu's that come with cases! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027 corsair 500W all you need and you won't have to worry about it. For $10 more you can get the 600W if you want additional power.

Your motherboard is pretty weak. You can get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130621 for $10 less and get more out of it.

I've saved you a little on those to hurt you in the cpu. I'd recommend the 2600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115071 since will benefit from the hyperthreading for your work. It's $80 more but you will have 8 threads to help with maya/photoshop and not sure on the zbrush.

That will push you over your budget so if you can't swing it then I'd go with the i5 2400. The price to performance ratio is better and the gains are extremely minimal going from a 2400 to 2500.
