I just built a new computer and was hoping to swap HDD from the old computer to the new one. The system boots off of the hard drive but as it starts to load (Windows 7 screen with colored dots rotating) the blue screen of death briefly flashes.
I went into BIOS and all 16 gigs of RAM are recognized. I'm not sure if this matters but on my old system, I only had 4 gigs of RAM.
I have also tried the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and I get a problem-free report after the scan.
I would greatly appreciate it for I have the same excitement flowing through me as any of you did when you had just built a new rig!
If your HDD has the operating system from the previous computer's installation on it, it will always fail. Any time you change from one computer system to another, you must re-install the operating system anew.
