Heatsink-Gpu-Motherboard capatability

I plan on buying the Biostar N68S3+, and putting my old CPU from my older pc on there till i can afford a upgrade, my question is will the heatsink that came with the cpu on my old pc fit on the new one, or do motherboards have different hookups on heatsinks??? Any answers would be much appreciated.

heat sinks are consistent based on the socket, so if its the same socket (which it must be if you want to use your old cpu) then you'll be ok. There are some issues with hsf with brackets on the rear, in that some mobo's have componentry behind that needs shielding.
