Hello,
I am planning to build a PC with all of the following parts:
ASRock 970 extreme4 motherboard
WD 750gb sata III HDD
ATI Radeon HD 6790
Liteon iHAS124 dvd writer (cheap one)
AMD Phenom II x4 965
Kingston 2X 4gb ddr3 ram cards from ebay
Corsair 600W power supply - 2 x pcie cables 6 sata cables and a few pin connectors that can be adapted i think :/
also i want to put it all in this :

Is there any experts who can tell me if this will all work, as i have researched and i really think it should
Help greatly appreciated :)

You can get the FX-4100 for $100 (at least in the US), that's cheaper athan X4 965 and overclocks to 4.6ghz.

Besides the video card being seriously weak compared to the rest of the system, it looks ok.

You should mention what monitor resolution you use because even for 1680x1050 the MINIMUM I would recommend is a HD6850.

i can get the hd 6850 for the same price (dunno why i didnt check?) thanks :)
is the 6790 really that bad? i though anything over £100 was alright at least and it was 3d as well!
anyway i was gonna get a 4100 but ive heard so much bad things about them that it put me off, are the bulldozer series any good?

What bad things did you hear about a 4100??? It's not going to perform any worse than the 965, and uses a lot less wattage, and at 4.6 it would be a pretty significant advantage.

You still haven't mentioned your resolution nor what you use the computer for (gaming? What games?), so really can't answer any more questions till you answer that one.

itll mostly be for games like starcraft ii , maybe the new deus ex one etc... resolution - was thinking of a 22" 3d monitor from ebay - dont know what that will be sorry :/  (ps i just heard that the amd's were a bit of a letdown and not nearly as good as they should have been)

They weren't as good as they should have been, but that doesn't mean you want the older 125w cpu instead, especially when it's more expensive.

3d meh, I don't do 3d, but whatever. A modern 22" monitor is 1920x1080, but my older 22" is 1680x1050.

I wouldn't recommend any less than a 6870 for 1920x1080 or 6850 for 1680x1050.

By the way that is one ugly case man, i would recommend the Antec 300 or Antec 300 illusion as the best budget case. And it doesn't look like it's from Mars.

I don't know anything about 3d.

Yes the psu has the right cables for the 6850.

James.....ummm...first you said 6850, then you said 8850, I'm assuming you meant 6850.

Then.....you said 6790, now your saying 6970....................big difference. :hello:

Ok first you said you could get the 6850 for the same price as the 6790, now your saying you can get the 6870 for the same price as the 6850.....the more you write the more I'm confused.

They're all within a tenner of each other on amazon uk :)  is the 6870 a lot better than the 6850 though?
