GA-880GM-USB3 CPU support

I was looking at gigabytes CPU support document for my GA-880GM-USB3 v3.1 motherboard and it only lists FX bulldozer CPU's.

Is this motherboard unable to support the new piledriver FX CPU's or have they just not added support for them to the bios? Does anyone know if the piledriver CPU's might work even if not directly supported by the bios? I do see piledriver support listed for some of their amd 970 and 990 chipsets, which scares me that I'm going to need a new motherboard if I ever want to get a faster CPU.

Thanks,

Bob

If it's not on the CPU list I wouldn't try it but you could email Gigabyte asking them if they're going to create a BIOS update enabling your board to run the Piledriver chips.

Your motherboard doesnot support the piledriver series processor.
You need a 970 or 990 chipset for piledriver CPU.

There seems to be some conflicting info. Is there a document that states the 880 chipset can't support piledriver CPU's?

Thanks,

Bob

It only supports bulldozer 8120 no piledriver.
