High speed burnnig prob

Greetings,
My friend has a 8x4x32 panasonic burner. It burns okay at 4x but not at 8x. I get alot of buffer errors. I am using the latest adaptec software 4.02 i think. heres the specs on the pc.

Celeron 733
192 MB RAM
7 GB WD Hard Disk
56x Cd-ROM
Intel 440 BX mainboard

Make sure your hard drive is defragged, not doing on-the-fly CD to CD copying, and don't have any other unnecessary applications open when you're burning.
