Hey can anyone tell me if there is a big difference between NVIDIA GT 555M Graphics and the 2GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M Graphics Card??? I want a laptop to do some slight gaming on every so often (dead island, fallout vegas, nfs) the dell xps I'm looking at has the 540 and the novatech has the 555M, I'd like to stick to dell really but if the card is quite a big difference.... Can't seem to find many good gaming laptops around the £700-£800 mark. Thanks.

The nVidia GT 540M is good enough to play many games with medium settings that are not too demanding. The GT 555M is actually a decent performance upgrade which should even allow you to play some games with high settings. My Lenovo IdeaPad Y470 comes with a GT 550M and has a 1366x768 resolution screen; when testing Crysis on high graphic settings and anti aliasing set to 2x I believe I was to get 18 FPS - 24 FPS in Chapter 2 - "Relic" most of the time. Based on the specs of the GT 540M, I would say it can get about 15 FPS - 21 FPS most of the time. The GT 555M should be able to push around 22 FPS - 28 FPS most of the time.

Also, buying a laptop with a more powerful graphics card will likely postpone your need to buy a new laptop once you decide your current laptop's gaming performance is too low for you to enjoy a particular game.
