Hello, I've recently been researching and compiling information and parts for building a computer for myself and my brother. Our budgets are somewhat different so I will post my build first followed by his. All I'm really seeking here is whether or not I should be upgrading or downgrading certain pieces (keep in mind that my budget is already being pushed with the current build), as well as compatibility issue with either build, and good advice or criticism.

My Build:

Case:
Corsair Obsidian Series 650D ATX Mid Tower Case

Motherboard:
ASUS P8P67 (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131705

CPU:
Intel i7 2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz LGA 1155 quad core

Video Card:
MSI N560GTX-M2D1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127592

RAM:
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145313

PSU:
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850M 850W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular High Performance Power Supply

For Storage I'm thinking of a 120GB Intel SSD as primary and a 500GB Hitachi HDD as secondary. Optical drive will be a simple ASUS DVD burner to cut costs.

My Brother's Build:

Case:
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Motherboard:
MSI P67A-C43 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130571

CPU:
Intel i5 2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155

Video Card:
MSI N560GTX-M2D1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127592

RAM:
CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233202

PSU:
OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Modular Gaming Power Supply
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341022

For storage, my brother is going to be using a similar configuration to what I will be using, as well as with the optical drive.

So, anything noticeably wrong with the builds? Windows and wireless adapters we're not included in the list, but don't worry about those. I'm looking to purchase all the parts later today as everything seems to look OK to me, however this is my first build and one can never be to careful.

Thanks for your time.

they look good, but unless you plan on upgrading to SLI on the top build you don't need 850 watts... also if you're really edging the budget consider the i5 2500k saves money and the performance difference between the 2500 and 2600 is minor..

Thanks for the reply =)
The overall plan with the top build is to put more money into parts like a larger power supply and a motherboard that would not only be able to handle an i7 2600k (I want to start experimenting with overclocking) but that would be upgradable to SLI in the future. That is essentially why I felt the 850 would be nice, just so I wouldn't need to upgrade it in the future.
I'm glad to see all the components look good though, I think I'll order it today!
Thanks again.
