Take a look at this before you read : some swtor benchmarks uber limited-edition gfx card
Hey guys. I've already jumped the gun and had to return a few computers that I have already purchased because I realized that they weren't what I really wanted. I really just want to finalize this build and take advantages of any offers that I could still take advantage of.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, i REALLY appreciate it
Approximate Purchase Date: Either before Christmas or late February. (Should I wait?)
Budget Range: <$1,500
System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming (SWTOR, Skyrim, BF3, Minecraft, Starcraft 2 (and DOTA) / audio production (FL Studio / Ableton)
Parts Not Required: Keyboard / Monitor / Mouse
I have Windows 7 Home Premium currently installed on my laptop, but I do not have the disk. Should I find some way to get another disk and just use my current product key, or should I get a different distro?
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Amazon, Tigerdirect… I don’t really care
Parts Preferences: I’m NOT a nvidia fanboy, but I am a bit apprehensive to go AMD because I might need HT for the audio production…
Overclocking: Eventually
SLI or Crossfire: SLI (Since I will probably lean towards intel/geforce combo
Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Additional Comments: This is all the money I made this summer from washing dishes. I’m 16, and it was hell because my summer was ruined from the job. I want to get something that will REALLY max out what I want and impress me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CPU: i5 2500k OR i7 2600k
(Torn between realistic gaming needs (i5) and HT for audio (i7))
GFX: 560ti 448 ( I’ve been reading AWESOME stuff about the overclocking potential being greater than the gtx570)
MOBO: I’m leaning towards a z68… It needs to be sli-ready and be able to support heavy overclocking of the cpu and gfx cards.
STORAGE: I was going to splurge and stack a few ssds into raid0… but do you guys think the price will go down any time soon? I am REALLY excited that Intel is going to soon add TRIM support for raid0 (this pushed me over the edge to go the ssd route)
AUDIO CARD: I probably will need one since I’m really into making music as well.
RAM: 6-8g
Cooling / Case : don’t care. As long as this stuff won’t fry. Case looks I could care less about…
PSU: will NEED to support an eventual gfx card upgrade. Probably will need to be over 750w.
