I can not boot my laptop

I have an IBM thinkpad lenova model T60 when I tried to boot it up the windows splash screen flashed and then I got the message intel boot agent - media device failure - can not boot from any device - current boot order and device status It does not find the operating system or any device.

Sounds like a hard drive crash. Do you have any way of running a hard drive scanning software via the USB?
