Will my slimline s3500 recognise a pcie x16 (gen2.1) card

I have a hp pavilion slimline desktop that i want to upgrade.

I will be taking out the motherboard and using it in another bigger case that i have which supports micro atx and mini itx, so there is plenty of room for the new gpu and i will also be getting a new power supply for this system (Corsair cx430v2).
The problem is that i am not sure if the slimline mobo will recognise my new pcie x 16 gen2.1 graphics card.(I read in some forum that people had some problem with their gen 2.1 gpu not being recognised in a gen 1.0 slot (pcie x 16)).
So can anyone please help me clear this confusion...has anyone tried putting a gen 2.1 card in a gen 1 pcie x16 slot of the slimline s3800 mobo.

MOBO DETAIL: Foxconn irvine GL6E MCP73S01 F7100 motherboard.

[In Short ]:
will a generation pcie 2.1 card (6670 or 6770) be recognised on my slimline mobo ?
Do i need to update my bios or somthing because i have never updated my bios?
if so then i hope the gt 630 ddr5 will be fine with the mobo..

ps: I will be upgrading to i3 sandy bridge on a h61 mobo after 2-3 months and i dont wanna wait that long to play some games on my new gpu and i also dont wanna compromise on the gpu due to pcie gen2.1 and get a (gen2.0) gt 630. Because 6670 is much better than a gt 630.

1) Only some AMD pcix16 2.1 cards won't work in some MB with PCIe 16x 1.0 slots. And you are better to get the pcix16 2.0 cards.
2) The HD6670(DDR5) will be same as GT640(DDR3).

Where i live the 5770 is cheaper than a gt 640 ddr3 so thats why i was wondering if it will work. I am getting a gt 630 ddr5(1gb) for the same price as 6670 ddr5. So i think I will buy that one(gt 630 ddr5). I also think that gt 640 is a pcie 3.0 card.. :(
I hope that would be okay as i would be getting a new gpu after 5-6 months.

I understand that the GPU is cheaper in USA, because the marketing.

If you still can find the HD5770 then get it, because it is still good card (DirectX 11, PCIe 2.0) that is a lot more better than GT630 (DDR5) even if it is a little bit old. And PCIe3.0 card can be backward compatible in the PCIe2.0 X16 slot.

You need the HD5770 low profile card.

thanks for the reply and the chart...
but my motherboard support pcie x16 gen 1.0 there is no use getting a gen 3.0 card right now...
I was having my doubts even for a gen 2.1 card like the 5770 and so i was asking if it will work with my motherboard....

ps: gen 3.0 is out od the scene. The real question is that will my shitty motherboard support pcie gen 2.1 card...!!!?!
