whats the best cpu to fit to my dell dinsion 5150

I have a old Dell Dimesion 5150 with a 2 core processor (D915).
Its 2.8gtz , (presler) - can i upgrade it - I've read that a D945 would be ok but would it be any better than what i have. - and whats the max processor i can take...Thanks...Keith

  1. That dinosaur? Don't even think about upgrading an OEM.

    Save up for Ivy Bridge.

    The Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 is the best 775 but it's at....1K

    EDIT: I don't even know if the OEM Mobo can take a new CPU. OEM mobos don't usually update their BIOS.

    Not bothered about gaming speed - just wanted to make it better for editing video,photo's etc....I know its not worth spending a fortune on , but if it makes these tasks abit quicker then that'l do me....thanks for quick answer....Keith

    With 1K, you can build yourself a pretty decent Ivy Bridge rig.
