Hi all, I'm going to be upgrading to Ivy Bridge from a Core 2 Quad (2.4 Ghz, can't OC it due to cheap motherboard) and would like to know if it's safe enough to run it at 1.65v. Or should I be down clocking it to 1333 Mhz and set it to 1.5v?

The shop didn't have any 1.5v DDR3 1600 in stock so I went with two 4GB DDR3 1600 at 1.65v.

I am also planning on overclocking the i5 3570K to 4.0 Ghz. (With Frio Advanced)

The main use of this upgrade would be gaming so I assume going down to 1333 Mhz won't affect the performance much?

Should I go with Corsair XMS3 (Same specs: 1600 Mhz, CL9, 1.65v) instead of HyperX?

Thanks.

I don't think I'll be able to return the RAM, I could exchange it though. If I don't find any 1.5v DDR3 1600s, I guess I'll just down clock and volt it to 1333/1.5v.

Thanks.

Yeah should be fine. Do it.
