Win7 smb access issue

Hello, The title explains it all really. My home network is beginning to expand and i have built an itx home server with win7 on for file sharing and streaming purposes. (i used WHS but its not good for Mediabrowser)

I was wondering if smb shares are accessible when the win7 machine is not logged on? i ask as i'm not able to contact the smb on our various pc's around the house including win7 Mac OS and from our iPhones.

File and printer sharing is available as long the computer is turned on and can be seen on the network.

No one needs to be log in.
